CLAMPER | Timeline

We started our story with a focus on consulting projects. In a short time, CLAMPER began to manufacture, in an artisanal way, products with engineering solutions for large companies — such as Vale do Rio Doce, Petrobras and CEMIG — carrying out 100% customized projects for each customer served.

VCL is a DPS developed and manufactured by CLAMPER. This initiative demonstrated a great leap for the company, offering the market a product that could be sold on the shelves, which was an important step towards the consolidation of CLAMPER as a reference in the segment of protection against electrical surges.

With the increase in demand, it was necessary to reformulate the VCL project, optimizing the manufacturing process, production and distribution of the product. Here, CLAMPER devices are now available for sale in electrical material stores in the capital of Minas Gerais, Belo Horizonte.

We won the Quality Award for the first time, given by Revista Eletricidade Moderna, which is a reference in the specialized media of the electricity sector. Quality-mind recognition has strengthened CLAMPER's presence in the market, making us specialists in protection in Brazil.

Our VCL underwent a complete overhaul and, in its second generation, following the NEMA standard, we made the product more complete, adding performance, protection and safety features. This new phase marked the beginning of a strategic moment for CLAMPER, focused on the growth of its operations in the retail sector.

We became pioneers in Brazil by developing models of Surge Protection Devices for application in telephone lines, Integrated Services Digital Networks (ISDN), among others. With the certification of our devices, we started to offer the market the line of CLAMPER Protective Modules, with more than 20 DPS models, certified and approved by ANATEL.

Created to meet a specific demand by Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (CEMIG), the Low Voltage Lightning Arrester brought a significant contribution to the company, providing a reduction of more than 90% in the burning rate of its transformers. The result of this success made the PRTB one of CLAMPER's most requested DPS, being used in Brazil and in countries in Africa, South America and North America.

Consolidated in the market and ready for new challenges, we started to export our products to Paraguay, also becoming a reference in the international market. The following year, we promoted an event attended by representatives of the State Government, officially establishing the launch of CLAMPER in the country.

To keep up with our growth, we invested in a new headquarters in Lagoa Santa, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte (MG). With 1500m², this new structure became a milestone in CLAMPER's history, as it demonstrated all our technical capacity, manufacturing potential and the creation of new partnerships.

Following the Brazilian guidelines to adopt the European standard (IEC) in energy installations, we turned our efforts to the development of a versatile product. We created the VCL Slim. An innovative product that offers two fixing options (either by means of NEMA clamps or on 35mm DIN rails), accompanied by an adapter. The launch of this new product motivated us to invest in its export to new markets.

With the expansion and expansion into new markets, we achieved UL certification, ensuring that our products were properly tested in the laboratory and considered safe for use in electrical equipment. Obtaining this certification allowed us to export to countries in Central America, North America, Asia and Africa.

As a result of the quality of our work, we have received ISO9001 certification. We gained strength and intensified our participation in fairs in Latin America, seeking new business opportunities (largely through SINAEX – a program linked to Apex-Brasil). In the following two years, CLAMPER was already present in 12 countries.

Responding to a market demand, we launched the pluggable VCL Slim. His proposal facilitated the product maintenance and replacement process, since only the moving part needs to be replaced, without power interruption. This innovation brought simplicity, agility and security to the professional.

In order to expand our production capacity, we installed CLAMPER Mexico, with the mission of taking over local trade, as well as in Canada and the USA, in addition to serving countries in Central America and the Caribbean.

We brought to the market a new product with the trademark of CLAMPER innovation: the Perforating VCL. An innovative and ideal product for installation in meters and distribution boards that do not have space on the rails. Its proposal is to offer an economical solution for the protection of electrical and electronic equipment against damage caused by lightning and electrical surges.

We completed the reformulation of the entire Plug and Play line and launched the first DPS + Line Filter, capable of offering simultaneous protection to telephone and data lines. The Multiprotection CLAMPER 8 is highly resistant and has a modern design, allowing electrical protection for up to eight products, as well as connections for coaxial cables and RJ11 connectors. In a short time, this became one of the most sought after products by technology aficionados.

In order to offer equipment protection during its charging time, in residential and corporate environments, we created the iCLAMPER Pocket. Portable and affordable, the DPS has become an ideal solution for protecting equipment such as printers, refrigerators and many others. Due to the absolute success, we expanded our product line in the following years by launching the iCLAMPER Pocket X (intended for plugs and outlets in old and international standards) and the iCLAMPER Pocket 20A (intended for the protection of products with a 20 ampere outlet standard).

With the slogan “More than a Line Filter”, we launched the iCLAMPER Energia 5 on the market, a DPS coupled to a high-capacity Line Filter, ideal for protecting high-cost equipment that is highly sensitive to damage. This has become one of our most popular products, being a benchmark for quality, protection and safety.

We celebrate 25 years of history with the publication of the book "Protection of Electrical and Electronic Equipment against Electrical Outbreaks in Installations''. Produced with the collaboration of professors from UFMG and PUC, researchers from the Center for Research and Development in Telecommunications (CPqD) and engineers from the technical staff at CLAMPER, the book became the first technical publication in Brazil that unites theory and application, and was distributed during the years 2016 and 2017 to universities and entities in the electricity sector throughout Brazil. downloaded for free here.

CLAMPER is recognized for the first time by employees as a “Great Place to Work” (GPTW) company. This certification represents our search for better results, establishing a culture of trust, performance and innovation.

CLAMPER made history again celebrating the achievement of being the first industry installed in the First Industrial Airport in Latin America. The strategic location allows us to be closer to our customers, streamline the logistics process, diversify the production chain and meet the demands of the national and international markets.
